Spring is definitely in the air and with that comes the feelings of new life and new adventures. Today I’ll be sharing with you the Spring Chick Crochet Drawstring Bag because there are very few things that say spring to me more than brand new baby chicks!
This bag is easy enough for a beginner to tackle and will even cover a few fun techniques that can be applied to other amigurumi designs in the future! I love it when I can take techniques and apply them to another design. Like I shared in my about page, when I was telling the things that make me me, I love a good deal and being able to utilize a technique in various ways just gets me excited!

Assembly
- Bag: Fold the bag in half with right sides together, ensuring that the holes for the drawstring line up. Fasten on to the bottom of one side of the bag and sc evenly up the side of the bag. Fasten off and weave in ends. On the opposite side, Fasten on to the bottom of the bag and once again evenly sc up the side of the bag. This time DO NOT fasten off. Turn the bag right side out and then proceed with the decorative top as follows, if desired.
- Ch1, sc in the 1st hdc on the top of the bag, [ch3, sc in the next hdc] Repeat as many times as needed to go all around the bag, slst into the 1st sc, Fasten off, Weave in ends.
It may be helpful to pin the following items to determine placing before attaching.
- Wings: Use the tails to attach to the side of the bag.
- Eyes: Use the tails to attach to the front of the bag.
- Beak: When creating the beak at one point we worked in the FLO. This will help the beak to more naturally fold. Stitch the beak to the bag accordingly.
- Feet: Using the tail closest to the toes, thread your tapestry needle. Fold the sc rows with wrong sides together and whip stitch the edges together. This will form something like a tube with the sc portion and cause the toes to splay out a bit. Tie off end and weave in tail. Use the other tail to attach the feet to the bottom of the bag.
